Indian Expo - Big Tent In Macoya

It was an ordinary errands day but I took some time to check out the Indian Expo in Macoya, even though most of my money went to paying bills before then. There are a few Indian Expos scattered across Trinidad and they have been with us for many years now. It was an explosion of colours and textures. I had been transported to a side street of a market in Mumbai. My ears were filled with hindi chant music. From drums to furniture to clothing, my eyes lit up like a deya on Divali night. The creaky flooring added to the authenticity of the experience. I couldn't leave with my hands swinging and luckily I saw something I needed, a bamboo back scratcher.

Early Morning Bush Walk - North Central Trinidad

I am no stranger to long distance walking (between 5 km and 10 km). I woke up and decided I had the energy and I had never walked along to the end of Warren Road, heading West, which gives direct views of the Northern Range and Caroni plains and planes descending into Piarco airport. It is a narrow road, so be cautious, if you ever have to walk that road. It is agriculture and empty land on both sides for the first 1 km. My walk took me from Warren Road onto Ajodha Road and Munroe Road and then back to the Southern main road. These are some photos from that walk. Bird Photography in Trinidad and Tobago

So I started walking with my old (8+ years) point and zoom Nikon P90 in my knapsack when I go long distance walking. Sharpness, detail and colours will be lacking but I can still hone my skills. There are some areas I pass where I can catch sight of birds. I am amateur at birding and it has been on and off for me and I seem to have lost my Birds of Trinidad and Tobago  book (I had an older edition I bought in Nigel R Khan Tobago). Birds are majestic and make interesting subjects for photographing. Here are some recent shots I took. Also as part of this blog post I am creating a (work in progress) list of links showing birds of Trinidad and Tobago that can help with naming the birds you see.
